White Out

So often, I think bloggers write about this or that crazy expensive product that we’ll never actually buy, loving a new thing over here, dying over that nugget over there. While there is definitely some fun in dreaming of beautiful pieces to surround ourselves with, I am trying to focus on taking action to the things I talk about here. When I wrote last week about the beauty of going with the flow, I was serious about my desire to implement all-white bedding into our master bedroom. This weekend, I went out and got a duvet cover I’d been eyeing for some time.  It’s a seersucker striped number from Target which has enough texture to be anything but boring.

It’s currently paired with some dusty grey-blue euro shams and an embroidered lemon yellow pillow.  I plan to get some fun poppy color to replace the dusty blue, but in the meantime, it will work.  It’s bright, airy, and I absolutely love it.

I am also committing to coming back in the next few months and keeping you guys up to date on how the upkeep of all of these layers of white go!

Have a happy Monday out there!

p.s.  in the same vain as ‘white out’ bedding, I’ve painted my nails white this weekend (as documented on Instagram) and I like it way more than I thought I would! It’s very summery and neutral… and you know how much I love neutrals.

I currently have 2 gray shams, 2 grayish west elm shams, 2 bright pink throw pillows and 1 larger turquoise chevron I know that sounds crazy but it is so pretty! thanks for the great blog. K Sunday

Karen – that all sounds amazing together! I’m hoping to up my fun factor and I think the white duvet will be the key to letting me go wild on the other aspects! I’d love to see your space! Feel free to share via our facebook page!

Beautiful! I am ashamed to say it, but my bedding is just a duvet… without a cover! It is white which looked alright at first but it quickly started to look a little bedraggled and has definitely stained. I can’t remember if I’ve tried bleaching it; it’s possible the tag says not to use bleach. I really just need NEW bedding. I’m pining for something dark after dealing with this thing, but more power to you if you can keep up with it! I’ll be very curious to hear how it goes. :)

Christina – I LOVE dark bedding and this duvet that I got comes in a dark grey which I loved the most! unfortunately since our walls are dark grey, I feel like I need to stay with something light or else It will become a cave in there!

I gave in to the same yearning for all-white bedding a few years back and I don’t regret it at all. I have 3 cats (so much cat hair!) and a husband who is, um, how shall I put this? NOT CAREFUL about things that are fragile or delicate…. And so far we are just fine with the all white. I do bleach, but I find it dulls the white. I am going to try the vinegar/baking soda thing instead– less toxic and, apparently, won’t dull the colour.

I also have been wearing white on my nails these past couple of weeks! I love it, too– I thought it would be a one-off, but it might be my signature summer shade!

Good luck with the white bedding– it really is so soothing and lovely to see an all-white bed. AND it’s easy to switch up the coloured accents = perfect for a decor junkie like me! :)

I’ve been eyeing that same bed spread! Mayhap a trip to target is in my future. Something I have always wondered about spreads – should you size up, or stay at the size your mattress is? I hate when they aren’t long enough on the sides, but I’m not sure if a king size comforter would completely dwarf a queen bed.
