diy monogrammed guest towels

It’s my last DIY gift before Christmas and this one is certainly the best for the time-sensitive.  It’s hard to even call it a ‘craft’ because it involves little to no skill whatsoever, but that is a really good thing for those of you who may be reluctant to take things into your own hands when it comes to Christmas gifts – like a starter project? Ok, let’s do this.

These guest towels could be used as bar towels, or in the bathroom, or as napkins.  They’re so versatile, but I love using them here as a really luxe addition to my holiday bar (with all of that prosecco, you can tell I’m serving bubbly cocktails for Christmas, but more on that next week).

It’s as easy as 1, 2 (no 3!) so keep on reading for the step by step!

ONE purchase the embroidered iron-on letters of your choice in the T-shirt decoration area of your local craft store.  My favorites are these by Wrights from Joann Fabrics. TWO position the letter in the very middle of one of the sides of a fabric napkin.  THREE Iron on with a towel as a barrier and hold a hot iron for 20 seconds per side (front/back).

I used fabric napkins from Home Goods that were just $8 for a set of six.  Then after $1.50 for each appliqué, I made three sets of these guys for hostess gifts and they cost under $6 per set.  How is it possible to conjure up a brilliant custom hostess gift for that little? It’s a Christmas miracle.

The best news is that you still have 7 days until Christmas, so if you’re short on gifts for someone – run out! Make these! Anyone would love to receive them!

You can tell I’m excited about them right?

  • Grand idea – super for teacher/staff gifts. Found some “holiday” iron ons that were not so whimiscal or cutsie to use & they added just enough hoiday touch in powder room. Have on my “get list” to do for next year – some personalized & some generic for the “just in case, last minute gift”. Thanks for sharing & Happy & Prosperous 2014
