Tray Chic Coffee Bar

Raise your hand if you like coffee.  Now, raise your hand if you’ve ever been staying out of town with friends or family and you wake up and there is no coffee to be seen and you feel like such a creep poking around in their cupboards looking for some of the liquid gold trying not to make any noise? Yes, it’s happened to me too.

It is for this very reason that I make up a little coffee tray when I have visitors. Not only is everything in one focal area, but also people don’t have to sneak into my fridge wondering if I have milk or cream or sugar or whathaveyou.  There are two big reasons why I think making a coffee tray is a brilliant idea.  [Read more…]

Sugar and Spice

sugar and spice - 1

I’m into simple, if you haven’t noticed, and I love simple things that still have some wow factor for gifting or for everyday use.

Infused spirits and drinks have been all the rage this past year, but I’m bringing the trend back to a simpler, giftable item that will impress even the toughest critic.  Infused salts and sugars are so easy, give a ton of room for creative freedom, and look darling in little jars with handwritten labels.

It really is just as easy and putting your favorite herbs or flavorings into some sea salt or sugar, closing it tight, and letting it sit for about a week prior to gifting or using.  You can always choose to pluck the flavoring agent back out, but I think they look so pretty nestled in the jars.  I was also thinking about how wonderful some lavender sugar would be (sprinkled on scones?) and some hot chili salt would be so fun as well!  Have a great time coming up with ideas and let me know what you try!

Any flavors that pop in your mind?

Simple, Seasonal: Salt Votives

As promised a couple of weeks ago when I told you guys I’d have some seriously simple, but wonderful decor ideas, here is one that may not even require a visit to the store.  A little rock salt, some tealights, and assorted drinking glasses can make you look like a holiday rockstar in no time flat.  Arrange the candles among small side tables in your house or down the center of a table grouped together for big impact.

It doesn’t get any simpler, but isn’t the outcome so pretty?  If you’re interested in previous ‘Simple, Seasonal’ posts here was the first!

I hope you have a FABULOUS Tuesday!
