Make Someone’s Day Mini Notecards

Sweet thoughts notecards mini

this post is sponsored by Makr App

Aren’t these mini cards too cute?  I made them!  The folks at Makr reached out to me to ask me if I’d give their new App for iPad a try. Since I love fun apps and I love DIYs, I was (of course) in.

you're sweet mini notecard

I’m always a tiny hesitant about using templates to make things because I always kind of think it’s more hassle than it’s worth, but this is not the case with Makr.  I dug in and played around for hours.  To the point where my husband was like, “what are you doing over there?” I think I was just enjoying myself a little too much.

Once you get into the templates, you can customize pretty much anything, BUT the app gives you suggestions for everything from the backgrounds, to the fonts, to the little graphics and the colors so that the whole design stays cohesive for those who don’t have a graphic design background.

I ended up using a business card template to make these adorable mini cards.  The ‘You’re Sweet’ card is something to slip to a friend for co-worker who is always helpful and kind.  I made a ‘You Look Cute’ card because there is so often that I want to tell people that they look cute, but thought giving them a darling little card would just make their day that much sweeter!

A ‘Thinking of You’ card is really for any occasion.  I don’t even think the cards need signed or any other explanation, just a little note to someone you may or may not know to make their day.

The back even has a little disclaimer…

Cute huh?

You can choose to print your designs at home, or have them professionally printed, a great option for when you need something quick like labels!

The best news yet?  The Makr app is FREE.  Try it out, I think you’ll love it.  House of Earnest readers even get an Makr Credit and 20% off printing with the code: EARNESTFAN

I now have a stack of fun, thoughtful little cards to spread around the world.

Who would you give a mini happiness card to?

Creepy Crawly Chic

Something you may not know about me is that I was a science major in college. I spent the early years in all sorts of fun classes where we got to examine, breed, and learn about some creepy creatures. Although these days, 0% of what I do is related to that field, I still hold a vested interested in the beauty of nature.

Insects have become a major trend as of late, their likenesses appearing on upholstery fabric, in art, jewelry, and clothing.  I wrote an entire round up and rundown of the trend (and how to implement into your life)  in my bi-monthly posts that I write for Etsy, but I chose a few favorites to share with you today!

On My Radar: Lauren Alison

Every so often an artist or shop comes along that really blows me over.  The art and design of Lauren Alison is one of those things.  I first discovered her shop on Etsy and soon feel in love with all of her amazing work.  Her drawings are beautiful renditions of nature done on bright, happy, color which make the napkins, pillows, and tea towels she creates simply one of a kind.

Are you as impressed as I am?  If you haven’t already check out her shop, you should! I swear you’ll love every piece in her shop more than the last.

Have a colorful Wednesday, guys!

Quirky, Colorful, and Pain-free

I’m back at work today after a long weekend in Las Vegas, and I definitely need a little help to get going this morning!

I love the fun packaging on these meds from Target. So colorful and quirky, it might make your pain go away just a little bit quicker.

I hope your Monday is as pain-free as possible!

Style Splurge: Linen Sheets

This style splurge is one that seems truly indulgent to me.   Some would argue, however, that linen sheets are also practical. They are supposed to wear well over time and become softer with age.

I am pretty particular about the kind of sheets I use, and my husband is definitely vocal about sheets that rub him the wrong way (pun intended).  One time he accused me of scooting over onto his side of the bed after he left for work and moving around a bunch so his side would pill.   This is obviously a pretty outrageous claim, but maybe we would both have a happy nights’ sleep with some cool, crisp linen sheets on our bed.

aaaaand if you think that all linen sheets only come in boring shades of natural flax,  you’re wrong!  Linoto carries some pretty amazing colors.  These aqua ones caught my eye, although  don’t think they’d necessarily work in my bedroom.

I want to know what you think?  Have you heard good things about linen sheets?  Are they something you’d splurge on?

Have a FABULOUS day out there!
